Szombierki Heat Power Plant

Szombierki Heat Power Plant (private property) is one of the most beautiful, monumental industrial buildings in Upper Silesia. Thanks to its characteristic shape, it is called the industrial cathedral. The tower several dozen metres high holds an immense clock face with the short hand being as long as 3 metres.
The building of Szombierki Heat Power Plant was designed by Georg and Emil Zillmann from Berlin. It was opened in 1920. The usable area of this immense building complex is 36 thousand sq. m, and its cubage 322 thousand m³. The largest among the power plant rooms is the former machine room. The facility has proved to be an excellent venue of different cultural and sports events. At present, it is not possible to visit the interiors.
