Sports

Bytom is a city with numerous victories of local sportspeople going down in its history. The successes include e.g. the ones in judo, hockey, tennis and table tennis, football, karate and also the most recent ones, i.e. in the boxing ring or on running tracks.
The city has excellent sports facilities, including 4 sports halls, a golf course, 9 indoor and 13 outdoor tennis courts, an artificial skating rink, 2 indoor and one outdoor swimming pool complexes, 2 skateparks and 4 sports shooting ranges, sports fields and complexes.
In Bytom, there are more than 60 sports clubs and associations as well as also numerous students’ sports clubs. It has a modern “Na Skarpie” Sports Hall, “Torkacik” Sports Fields Complex and also two sports complexes, including “Moje boisko Orlik 2012”, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor and seasonal skating rink, stadiums, tennis courts, a golf course and a year-round skiing slope in Bytom – Sucha Góra. In 2021, there will be a modern skating rink hall housing ca. 1500 spectators, worth ca. PLN 40 million, handed over for use.
Bytom is also a city of sports events. It is home to e.g. Bytom Half-Marathon, Leszek Błażyński Boxing Memorial, swimming championships, hockey matches, volleyball, basketball and football tournaments and also such events as the Polish Tennis Championships.
