Drohobych
Drohobych, the Ukraine – a city in Lviv Oblast in the Eastern Beskids. It has ca. 100 thousand residents. Drohobych is termed also “a city of the Cinnamon Shops” thanks to one of its most important ambassadors, i.e. prose writer and draughtsman, Bruno Schulz. The partnership agreement between Bytom and Drohobych was signed on 5 December 2011. One of the major priorities in this partnership is to reinforce and develop education, including learning Polish by the youngest generation. It is worth mentioning that according to unofficial statistics Drohobych is inhabited by more than 2 thousand Poles, mostly concentrated around the Association of the Polish Culture of the Lviv Land. The Bytom branch of the association has cooperated with that organisation for years.
